At The Awareness Centre, we’re proud to have a team made up of extremely dedicated, experienced mental health and therapy specialists. Our director, Michaela McCarthy, has years of experience within the field, and the whole of the management and TAC Training School Teams also share her passion for helping those in need through professional therapy and counselling. Michaela McCarthy
Managing Director
Michaela McCarthy is a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist, psychosexual & relationship therapist, clinical supervisor and training facilitator/tutor. She set up The Awareness Centre in 2005, offering a safe and confidential counselling and psychotherapy service. She is senior accredited with the BACP.
Michaela has worked as a therapist and as an entrepreneur for over 25 years. Her energy and vision for the company is exceptional. Michaela believes it’s important to create a safe environment for her team, for therapists and for clients to engage and develop professional relationships.
Michaela is passionate about sharing her experience and knowledge and therefore continues to teach and supervise students and qualified therapists. She also works in private practice in Clapham.
Michaela continues to develop new projects within TAC, securing more NHS counselling contracts, opening more TAC centres throughout London and developing the TAC Training School to offer courses from more venues across London.

Francesca Brenner
TAC Marylebone Clinical Secretary/PA
Francesca Brenner is the Clinical Secretary/PA for Michaela McCarthy and the Wimpole Street Practice in Marylebone. Francesca brings a wealth of medical administrative experience gained over 12 years both in the private sector and in GP services.
Francesca demonstrates compassion and empathy and is a strong advocate for a positive mindset towards the mental health sector. She has always had a strong passion to work within the mental health industry and is a senior member of the TAC team.

Doreen Mei
Finance Manager
Doreen left her home country in 2004 to pursue her professional ACCA qualification in accounting. She settled in the UK and has been living and working in London ever since. She is an experienced enthusiastic accountant an all-rounder interested in all aspects from cash management and bookkeeping to budgeting and preparation of statutory accounts.
Doreen has spent many years in roles of accountant, finance manager and accounts lecturer. Doreen also has extensive experience developing course materials for accounts training, delivering courses as a lecturer and also providing one to one tutoring.
She is an active volunteer in her local community, acting as a choir leader and also a chaperone for youth musical theatre. Apart from work, she enjoys travelling and has covered many countries in Asia and Europe. She enjoys experimental cooking and hopes to someday create her own cookbook.
